Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Navgaon, Alwar was established through Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi under the administrative control of Swami Keswanand Rajasthan Agriculture University, Bikaner (Rajasthan) in the year 1992. After foundation of Sri Karan Narendra Agriculture University, Jobner, Jaipur the KVK was works under it, from September 2013.

The KVK is situated in village Navgaon on the road of National and State Capitals and having 135 KM away from Delhi and 170 KM from Jaipur. The road is directly connected from Haryana state through Gurgram and another side road connected from Uttar Pradesh via Agra. The KVK instituted 35 KM distance from district Alwar head quarter. The KVK continue works with the collaboration of state departments like, Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, Live stock and other government and non government organizations and directly associated with the farmers, agriculture extension personals.

Aims and objectives

  • Conducting on farm testing to identifying the location specific of agriculture technology under various farming system.
  • Organize Front line demonstrations (FLDs) on various crops to establish its Production potentials on the farmer’s field and feed- back information field functionaries.
  • Organizations of trainings of farmers, farm –women and rural youth to update their knowledge and skills in modern agricultural technologies and training of extension personnel to orient them in frontier areas of technology development.
  • To work as knowledge and resource center of agricultural technology for supporting initiatives of public private and voluntary sector for improving the agricultural economy of the district.

Head of Institute

Dr. Subhash Chandra Yadav joined Sri Karan Narendra Agriculture University (SKNAU), Jobner in July 2018 as Senior Scientist & Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Navgaon (Alwar-I). Born on 8 th July 1978 in Rajasthan, Dr S. C. Yadav graduated from University of Rajasthan, Jaipur in 2000 and obtained Master’s in 2002 and Ph.D.  degree in 2007 in Plant pathology from MPUAT, Udaipur, Rajasthan.

District Profile

Alwar has an important place in Agriculture production in Rajasthan. Total geographical area of the district is 7,82,897 hectares which is about 2.5 percent of the State. The net cultivated area is 5,09,107 hectares from which about 83% area viz 4,26,204 is irrigated and remaining 17 percent area viz. 82903 is urirrigated. Double cropped area is 2,72,508 hectares of which 32230 hectares (12%) area is irrigated and remaining 2,40,278 hectares (88%) area is unirrigated. Thus, the total cropped area of the district is 7,81,615 hectares. In Kharif season Bajra, Maize, Jowar, Kharif Pulses, Arhar, Sesamum, Cotton, Guar etc. are sown in about 3,29,088 hectares (42%) and in Rabi season Wheat, Barley, Gram, Mustard, Taramira, Rabi pulses etc.are shown in about 4,52,527 hectares (58%). The main source of irrigation are wells and Tube wells. About 192861 hectares area is being irrigated by tube wells and about 265169 hectares area is irrigated by wells. By other sources like canals, tanks, about 404 hectares area is irrigated.
